KEEP YOUR VACATION DATES OFF SOCIAL MEDIA

With social media being such a large part of our lives today, it's only natural to want to share the excitement of an upcoming vacation. However, by doing so, you are essentially setting yourself up as a target for burglars. Criminals in the past have relied on public social media profiles like Facebook and Instagram to stalk and intrude homes while residents are away.

KEEP YOUR YARD GROOMED

A well kept yard with cut lawn, trimmed hedges and edged sidewalks tells the criminal that you are vigilant. More importantly it tells the criminal you are home. HOA Restrictive Covenants require grass not exceed 6 inches in height. If you are going to be out of town for any amount of town have someone pick up your mail, newspapers and flyers as well ask cut the grass. This goes a long way in keeping your home safe from break ins. It has the added benefit of keeping the neighborhood looking nice.

MAKE USE OF TIMERS

Timers are great especially on nights you won't be home. Just because you aren't home doesn't mean that you should keep all the lights off at all times. Set a timer and have the lights go on and ff at specific times so that it looks like your home is being occupied. Many burglars study when people exit and enter their homes to plot their next move. By setting up these timers and lights to go on and off, it'll throw them off.

PRACTICE FIRE SAFETY

Keep anything that can burn, as well as children and pets, at least three feet away from open flames.

SET BOUNDARIES OF WHERE YOUR CHILDREN CAN GO

How far away can your children go without you? Just down the street or around the corner? Is there a dangerous area nearby to avoid? Be sure to communicate with your children and know where they are at all times.

GARBAGE CANS
Please make an effort to remove your garbage cans from sight except on your collection day. Garbage cans must be screened from neighbors and the public view in accordance with the architectural committee guidelines. The Board appreciates your cooperation.

NEIGHBORHOOD PONDS
Our ponds are a relaxing environment for our families to enjoy. Please be aware if you are on someone’s property and graciously move to the designated areas. With that being said, please refrain from standing on the bricks around the pond.

PARKING ON THE STREET
Parking on the streets in excess of 24 hours per city ordinance and HOA restrictions is prohibited. All vehicles shall be parked within garages or driveways. Parking in yards is prohibited. Lot owners' visitors may temporarily park on the street that abide by parking laws. No inoperable junk or abandoned vehicles shall be allowed on the property."

JOGGERS AND RUNNERS
We encourage our residents to exercise and stay healthy. However, if you like to jog or run at night, please wear white or reflective clothing. We want you to have an enjoyable run or jog, but we also want you to be safe.

SPEED LIMITS AND STOP SIGNS

The board is aware that this is a topic of great concern. Those residents who continually ignore our speed limit (which is 25mph) and stop signs are putting your fellow neighbors at risk. This is a residential community and not an interstate highway. Those of you who do not heed the speed limit and stop signs are endangering our community. Please SLOW DOWN AND STOP before we have a serious accident or possible fatality.

ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL COMMITTEE
We are all striving to have an attractive, coordinated neighborhood that will have enhanced property values over the years. In that regard, all property owners are reminded that you have to get Architectural Control Committee approval for the installation and/or modifications to your property. This is regarding anything that affects the outside appearance of your home, including, but not limited to:

1. Outside Lighting
2. Changing the exterior color of your home
3. Installation of landscaping, statues, fountains and outside artwork
4. Fences
5. Any additions to your home

If something is installed without prior ARC approval, the committee has the authority to enforce the Restrictions of Lakepointe and require the removal of such property modification.
